PE and Sports Premium
At Waynflete Infants’ School we aim to deliver a high quality PE curriculum that develops children’s skills in sport and promotes the health and wellbeing of all of our children.
PE is taught for 2 hours per week. Through PE lessons, children learn how to master basic movements including running, jumping, throwing and catching, as well as developing balance, agility and co-ordination, and begin to apply these in a range of activities. They are also expected to participate in team games, developing simple tactics for attacking and defending, as well as perform dances using simple movement patterns.
Alongside our PE curriculum, our school aim is to increase children’s daily physical activity. This is achieved through daily ‘Wake and Shake’, our daily run, our school Sports Crew offer activities and challenges for the children to take part in at play times.
We also have an outdoor screen which promotes dance and active games.
Our children are also encouraged to take part in non-competitve and competitive events both within our school and with other schools in our cluster across the year that cover a wide range of different sports.
